Since the original Magnus racing bike set the performance bar so very high, following up and improving upon it was no simple task, nevertheless, the new Velocite Magnus retained all that was extraordinary about the Magnus and improved on it.
After exploring 9 different carbon fiber layups and one year of testing in our live testing program, the test feedback has been universally positive. While numerically the new Magnus carbon frame is identical in stiffness to the original Magnus, the testers all reported that the new Magnus roadbike feels stiffer, and at the same time more comfortable than the original. In fact the new Magnus was singled out as the most comfortable bike that one of our testers had ever used for a 7.5 hour classic race.
There is no secret to Magnus' dominance, we just chose to invest more in higher quality materials and the best manufacturing methods currently available. Our advanced multi-modulus carbon fiber layup uses up to 13 layers of ultra high, high and intermediate modulus unidirectional carbon fiber in critical locations to virtually eliminate any lateral flex. Due to the optimized tube profiles of the Magnus, even the weight has been kept low with the size M frame weighing in at just 1080g.
The new tapered 1.5" Velocite Bora S fork also contributes to the increased stiffness, and overall low weight of the frame set (module). It weighs just 360g while being 20% stiffer than its predecessor. This is in part due to its excellent mechanical design where the fork crown area was made 15% larger than before, thus managing the peak loads more effectively without a significant weight penalty.
The patented seat post clamp eliminates the need for a seat tube extension, thus achieving a more streamlined look. However the benefit is not only aesthetic, the main benefit of the new clamp is a more secure hold with a reduced risk of seat post damage. The aggressive apperance is further accentuated by the blade like, curved seat stays that now also benefit from advanced aerodynamic profiling.
High technology features also include a full length carbon BB30 shell, carbon fiber head tube races and full carbon dropouts.
Aggressive geometry allowing very low position for the best aerodynamic performance and powerful acceleration while sprinting or climbing.

Below are some key technologies found on all of our frames. For more in-depth technology information click on the following links:
Carbon Fiber
Frame Design
High Compaction Technology. Allows creation of very strong and very light frames and represents the best technology for monocoque frame construction that is currently available. The end result is smooth tubes inside and out, with perfect thickness control and no voids.
Full Length Carbon BB30 Shell. Increased stiffness benefits and reduced weight of the BB30 system are maximized. The full length carbon shell is 3.5mm thick and is therefore an effective, rigid structural member providing a perfect platform for the bottom bracket bearings. The benefits of our BB30 implementation are greater stiffness and lighter weight compared to any other bottom bracket system.
Carbon Elements. All mechanical interface points on carbon Velocite frames are made of carbon fiber. The BB shell, headset races and dropouts are all full carbon. This maximizes the stiffness while reducing the weight by a combined 20g.
Oversize Head Tube. All Velocite frames use 1 1/8" top bearing and 1.5" bottom bearing tapered head tubes to increase the strength and torsional stiffness of the front part of the frame. This feature allows the use of stiffer tapered steerer forks, greatly improving the steering response and increasing your confidence during high speed riding.
High Performance Stays. Used in all rear triangles of Velocite frames. They are designed with a focus on strength and obtaining optimal rear triangle torsional stiffness. To deliver the maximum power transfer during climbing or sprinting, the rear triangle should flex as little as possible.
Velocite Optimized Carbon. This advanced carbon fiber composite layup is a special blend of 5 to 13 layers of various tensile strength and tensile modulus carbon fiber prepreg material with special attention to torsional stiffness. We never apply a cosmetic surface layer to our frames. |
